Case Study: Byatt’s Brewery

In six years, Byatt’s has gone from small town brewer to a genuine player in the West Midlands brewing industry. Byatt’s offer dozens of hearty real ales, from bitters to IPAs, for pubs across the region.

Started in 2011 by enthusiast Lee Byatt, the business quickly turned into a family affair and by 2014 wife Shelley became co-director to help Lee with the workload. Byatt’s aim is “to produce great tasting, great quality beer to pubs and clubs within the region.”

They’re different skill sets complement each other and, more importantly, the business which, due to increased growth, saw Lee and Shelley move to much larger premises in order to create a 12 barrel brewery and brew house bar, to boost productivity.

The challenge:

Byatt’s was introduced to Love Finance early this year, they wanted to release cash tied up in their assets (i.e their brewery equipment). Refinancing would allow for a new on-site bar including a unique steel mezzanine feature. Building the bar would allow for them to create more revenue, add a new dimension to the brewing experience and diversify Lee and Shelley’s business.
